What about a 270 win 15" ss fluted TC Encore pistol ? The reason I ask is I am thinking about getting one.Has any one shot one? If so tell me about it.I would like to hunt white tail with it.What kind of sights open /scope? I would build 130 gr.hand loads .

I love TC Contenders.

I have had 7MM TCU barrels that kill deer like artillery. They are a lot of fun and I'm sure someone will come along that has the 270 barrel.

P.S.

Scope it up and you will be amazed at the effective range of these things!

My only experience with a "pistol rifle" was when I shot my uncle's buddies .300 Weatherby. I could have sworn it was a T/C but I just looked at the site and don't see that caliber...then again I don't see the .600 Nitro Express that I know they made as well. The gun sure looked great, real nice, and it was super light. Back then, I didn't know all that much about guns so the lightbulb did not go off in my head: hmmmm, .300 Weatherby, handgun, light...

Boom! Ouch. I mean ouch. I mean big time ouch. My right hand, my elbow especially, and oh the sting. Dude, my **** was stinging like mad. There was powder residue all over my face...and it was a hot summer day so all the sweat made it all the more uncomfortable. Since I was new to guns, I stupidly tried to remove the brass with no gloves on. Ouch again. The whole experience kinda sucked. When I fired it, it was like the entire world stopped for a second, and that second went in slow mo.

It on the way.

So now it's in the mail. After I shoot it I might put back in the mail to get a muzzle brake or mag port.:D

I don't have the 270, but I've got the 3030 in a 14" with muzzle brake and it's been my primary deer getter for the last 5 years, with shots from 40yds to 150 yds. I've also loaded 110gr's for prairie dogs out to 150yds. Contenders are addictive, I've now got 2 frames and 6 barrels from 223 to 44.

i know some things about .270's umm and i wouldn't try to take a shot over 70 yards with it lol if you want something good to hunt whitetail with go get a .308 i previously lived in Alabama and thats where its at .308 good brush gun light and you can reach out and touch something a lot further and more easily than you would with the .270 pistol :) i was given a Spanish FR-8 Mauser Carbine for a going away pres from my old rich ex-boss and that is the best rifle i have hunted with or shot in particular my favorite deer hunting rifle. I would stick with a .44 scoped or something in that field or the 30/30 as once referred :) happy hunting. and good luck.
