I like to ask are conicals harder to load in the ruger old army compared to RB?
I had a Buddie cast some .456 200 Gr.Round Nose seem hard to get the bullet started into the loading gate under the lever Ram

They are harder to load. A while ago I actually started a thread on how much conicals suck.

In my opinion they are far less accurate, hard to load and frankly unless you were looking to kill a boar at short distance not worth the effort.

Stick with round balls!

Harder if you're using the wrong bullet. Just as easy to load as round balls if you use the right one.

I ran some Buffalo Bullet 190-gr conicals last weekend. They loaded easily but were not as accurate as balls.

But they weren't terrible:

Here are balls for comparison

And with the cartuchos . . .

Round balls work well too in an R&D or Kirst cylinder loaded into .45 Colt cases. Just put a little beeswax cookie under the ball.

Back to bullets

I want to load the right bullets in my walker. I probably would load for other revolvers. Hawg, You had what looked like the way to go on the other post with your .36 rimmie. I need to look around for that mold. I don't remmber seeing that bullet, round nose hollow bass mold.

OK, The bullet page

I'm back. Oh I want to load the right bullets in my walker. Hawg Haggen You had what looked like the way to go on the other post with your .36 rimmie. I need to look around for that mold. I don't remember seeing that bullet, round nose hollow bass mold. The molds I been seeing are like the old 200gr hollow bass, like they had 150 years ago. Didirk you say they'er not worth the time. have you been using them a lot. If I thought I was wasting time I can just move on and mold for something else. I got the lead an everything needed to mold just about anything I want. sence I want to shoot, I don't want to wast time on something that don't work in the first place. The bullets in the .36 remmie look like they are putting out some good groups. Hawg how far are you shooting to get those groups? Now that ruger looks like its shooting the heck at of them. Erich how far were you from target to get groups like that? I don't see a lot of play there, just seem to have one that sits out there by its self, that can happen with rd. ball.

Shotput my bullets are not hollow base. I shot the coffee can at 25 yds. The bottom is six inches across. The mold is Lee 90378
