Ring height ?

I bought a .243 H&R handi rifle last night and I am going to put warne rings on and a nikon 3-9x40 BDC on top and was wondering if medium rings would be tall enough to clear the hammer. Can't wait to shoot this thing. I think I am going to go with the 55gr superformance from hornady. Any thoughts on this load? Thanks guys!

My buddy has one and uses medium rings on his. While the scope clears the hammer, he did put a hammer spur on it to make it easier to manipulate it.

the rings will clear but the spur is needed with any scope

the 55gners might be a little light and not shoot as tight as the gun can

what twist rate is the barrel?

Duckman we need to know the purpose for the rifle to properly discuss the bullet weight. 55 grn bullets are awsome in my rem 7oo bdl, just under m.o.a.
But I only use it for varmint hunting and paper. For deer or bear I would say 90 grn minimum for good penetration and a fast kill.

This gun will be strictly varmint/predator hunting. I believe the twist is a 1 in 10 but could be wrong. Thanks for the input on rings. I ordered warne medium rings and a nikon prostaff 3-9x40 BDC for it. Hope this gun will be a shooter!
