Rimlock and my P-32...

I LIKE my P-32. I have it set up just like I want. New, stiffer recoil springs, hard chrome top, gray grip frame...it's great looking! However, I don't carry it often because of the rimlock stories. Mine has never rimlocked on any brand of ammunition. I understand a rimlock is more likely with the short Cor-Bon .32ACP cartridge. I have some of those, however I've never used them. I also have some C-B .32ACP of a later vintage which is much longer. (OAL) Just about the same as a FMJ Fiocchi. I feel that this new C-B stuff is just about all you could ask for in a .32ACP. Think I have any rimlock concerns with these longer hollow points? I'm very used to complete reliability in my Seecamp and Guardian. I want to have the same type of reliability confidence in my P-32.

I've never had a rimlock with my two P-32s and have used 3 different types of HP - Silvertips, Gold Dots and Federal Hydra-Shok as well as several types of FMJ. When I I load it up for carrry, I put one round in the magazine, chamber it and then pop the magazine out and load the remaining rounds carefully (sometimes not so careful at the range) and rap the back of the mag a few times against my palm or a flat surface. Since you've never had a rimlock before, I don't think it should be of concern.
Here is an interesting site someone posted on the Kel-tec forum recently:

My P32 rimlock problems were mostly cured with Wolff +10% magazine springs. Federal Hydrashoks continued to cause problems. Winchester Silvertips worked 100%. Watch-Six

We have two P32s.
Ammo shot on a regular basis:
Winchester Silvertips, Federal HydraShoks, Fiocchi SJHP and FMJ, FN FMJ.

Our guns have had to go back to the factory for a few different problems, but have never had a rimlock.
The trigger and feed problems seem to be solved.
We have never shot Corbon, and we have never had a rimlock.

If you've never seen it in your gun, get rid of the Corbon, and don't worry about it. :D

Late last night...

..I reloaded both of my P-32 mags with Fiocchi FMJ. I feel better about it now. Although I've never had a rimlock problem, you know "Murphy's Law". I'd hate to ask the bad guy to, "Hold on a minute. I've got to clear a rimlock". :) However, the first round "in the chamber" is a Cor-Bon hollow point. If follow up shots are required, they'll all be Fiocchi FMJ's from now on. Oddly, I feel peaceful about the change.

Never had one either.........

Mine's about 2 1/2 years old and I've routinely shot Winchester silvertips, Fiocchi 73 gr FMJ, Winchester 71 gr FMJ and CorBon 60 gr JHP's. Come to think of it, I've never had a malfunction of anykind yet. I just received a box of RBCD ammo and stood up one of the rounds against a CorBon for comparative purposes. The CorBon round is short to begin with and the RBCD is even shorter! I plan to order some stiffer Wolff mag springs and recoil springs soon. Don't even know how I'm going to utilize the RBCD yet.

Jeff...

I'm going to try the .32 RBCD in my Seecamp. I talked to Larry this morning to check and he said, "Go for it"! I think Jeff has been right all along regarding RBCD. It's great ammunition.

MHOGAN: Nope. I've never had a single serious thought of my Glock 27 blowing up. (Anything labeled a "kB!" sounds like something too silly to concern me. No offense, but it does.) I've had my G27 since 1998 and, like my Seecamp, you can tell just by looking that it's a GREAT pistol.
