Rimfire trigger work

So I went on RFC and found some stickies on some trigger work.

I know, I know...."That's unsafe" yada, yada, yada....

I only went with the simple ones, that were tried and true.....

1st one was on my Marlin 880ss. I replaced the trigger reset spring with a lighter one I had. I also shimmed the sear spring.
This made the trigger lighter and more crisp......WOW! very simple!!

On my 10/22 pistol:
1st, I did the "Bobby Pin Trick" This basically replaces the trigger reset plunger and spring with a bobby pin on the inside of the trigger assembly. Definatly a lighter trigger.

2nd, I did the "mag release extension". This is basically using the factory bolt stop to extend the mag release "button". It is permanant, but is Very cool!

3rd, I tried the "Auto bolt release". This is the second permanant one I did. This mod makes it so you do not have to manipulate the bolt stop lever to release the bolt. Just pull the charging handle and let it fly. Also very cool!!

Where else can I find these tricks? I don't think I will try anything that is expensive (stoning triggers etc..) to replace, or beyond my skill level...

Brownell published 4 volumes of Gunsmith Kinks beginning a few years ago. They are moslty filled with how-to submissions for Gunsmiths pros and others. These books are fabluous. 500-600m pages with pictures and explanations. They are listed in Brownell's catalog, or go to www.brownells.com. Also, I have been a member of American Gunsmithing Association for several years (you get a discount from Brownell's and others). Do not have to b e a smith to join. They publish American GunSmith monthly. I have from '95 and have bought a few back ones as they have an index that covers all subjects. Each month is filled with how-toarticles. Got mine today for April (ugh, :barf: tax time) and it has articles on H&R 1871, Rem 1100, double-gun lockup, buttplate restoration nad newere Marlin levler actions. They have a tech assist hot line that is quite good. American Gunsmithing Association, P.O.Box 420234, Palm Coat, FL 42142-0234. HAve fun!
