Right Cartridges

I want to make sure I get the right cartridges for my new S&W 46 XVR.

Hornady makes the 46, so that's a given, but I also want to get some 45 colt and 454 casull for it.

I am not sure about the colt ammo as I have seen references to "Long" colt 45's and just plain colt 45's. Is there a difference?

I have also seen references to 454 casull and 454 magnum casull, I'm not sure if they are one in the same.

Can someone give me some insight so I don't end up buying something I can't use?

Thanks,

Wes

Long Colt .45, Colt .45, and .45LC are just different designations for the same cartridge. What you don't want to get is .45ACP.

I've never heard of .454 Magnum Casull.

I checked the Hornady site, and the .454 Mag is just one of the normal .454 loads they have. It doesn't even seem particularly hot (for a .454), so it should be just fine in your .460.
