Hello all,

This question has probably been asked before, but here goes - Where on the net is a good place to buy scopes? Someplace with a good combination of price and service. Any help will be appreciated by this rookie.

TIA,

Greg

Ince word (or set of letters, that is) SWFA. They can be visited at http://www.swfa.com they don't really "service" anything since they only sell optics, but they can give some very good info on their products. Warrantee issues are covered by the manufacturer.

I'll second Steve's vote by recommending SWFA too. I have bought many scopes from them and I have found their prices to be the best out there. Plus, they ship their product in a very timely manner.

kgs.

Another vote for SWFA. Have purchased two scopes from them, good prices and service.

I've purchased from both SWFA and Bear Basin. Both are good, and their prices are just about the same (very low). I will say that I was a little more impressed by Bear Basin. These people know their optics, and can give good advice on what you might need or want. Their website is a little better also. SWFA gades an "A", Bear Basin an "A+".

The best advice I'd give someone about buying optics online is that you have to look at several sources. All 3 of the sources listed on this thread have great prices. But they do vary from brand to brand.Another thing is to make sure where they are.I just looked up bear basin's site and got real excited to find that they beat SWFA's price by $40.00 on a spotting scope, but since I'm in the same state,I will get hooked for sales tax that will be over $50.00.Just look at all the offers online sources have, such as price, shipping, and "handling".You may find out in the long run you won't be saving as much as you think from one source to another.

Another vote for SWFA. They will usually beat anyone else's price - ask them, don't necessarily go by their web price - and they have a huge inventory. What's more, they know scopes. They gave me a great deal on a Leupold 4.5-14x40 AO Tactical and shipped it within a few days.

Another Vote for D&R.

D&R has very friendly service, great shipping prices, and a good deal all the way around. Check out all of these offers and go with the one with the best price. You are probably not going to be able to go wrong.

I have bought from both Bear Basin and SWFA. Both were great.

I called up D&R and the person needed to know the part number of what I wanted to buy. Told me he didn't have a catalog because the higherups had them all. I pretty much wrote them off because of that experience. If the phone rep. can't answer my questions without me knowing the exact manufacturers part number or their stock number why would I call the bastard$ to get answers?
