Must talk about guns, politics driving Chad insane.

What are some good rifles under $200? I know:
Enfield
Ishapore
Mauser
?????

Anyone want to chime in, I think I need more military rifles to add to the collection.

A used Marlin/Winchester .30-30.

A NIB Ruger/Marlin .22LR.

Something Chinese/Rumanian/Other Third World.

How about a Winchester 94AE 30-30? I got mine about 1 years ago from local Walmart for $189. Actually it was on sale for $199 but since they only had the display piece the manager took $10 off.

Enfield Model #4 is the best Enfield!

GOOD sights too! :)

My vote goes to the Enfield Number 4 Mk1 and the Yugo Mauser. Both can be had for under 200 (with the mauser the cheaper of the two) and the Ammo is right aound 30/06 levels.

A brand new single shot NEF can be had in a varitey of centerfire calibers (including .223) for well under 200. It's what I shoot "when I'm not really shooting"

I personally like the Mosin-Nagant (7.62x54R)!

Get the rifle and about 900 rounds of ammo for under $200.

:D

I second the Swedish Mauser. Mine will will place three rounds all touching at 100 yards. I have seen people shoot 1.5 - 2 inch groups open sighted with them. I you plan to reload one of the reloading books, Sierra or Speer (whichever is a binder), has all its loads for the 6.5 X 55 loaded for the Swedish Mauser (M38 shorter barrel).

As you said, there are a profusion of Mausers, Mosins and Enfields.

BUT - you missed the SKS! Cheapest centerfire ammo anywhere! Well under two bills for a good Romanian

You could also get a POS 10 round AK......

For another 60-80 dollars, you are into the current entry level AKs, particularly the SAR-2 in 5.45x39

Springfield Sporters has a variety of different Lee-Enfields for cheap. Don't just stop at the No4Mk1, get a No1MkIII, too! They are quick into action, you can get ammo at Wally World, and if their bores aren't ravaged by Cordite, they can shoot surprisingly well! They aren't the prettiest things, but after getting my No1MkIII*, I was impressed enought to get a No4Mk1, and a No5Mk1 Jungle Carbine. It's an affliction, now I have a Lithgow No1MkIII enroute, when will the madness end?
