recently i just purchased a new barrell for my remington 1100. It is a smooth barrell with a rifled choke tube. However i am not sure what type of slug to use. Any information would be appreciated.

thanks

The rifled choke tube allows you to use the standard slugs like a sabot slug. Don't use the "rifled slugs" since the rifling is already in the tube. The rifled choke spins the smooth slug on the way out of the barrel

Fully rifled barrels are best with the sabot slugs. A rifled choke tube doesn't work all that well with these.

Standard "Rifled" slugs and the excellent Brenneke slugs do well with a rifled choke tube but only range testing with that shotgun and tube will tell which is most accurate.

The good news is there's no ineffective 12 gauge slugs on medium game.

HTH....
