rifle scopes

I was browsing a local mail order catalog and found a tasco varmint scope with 6-24x, adjustable objective lense and a mil dot reticle. the cost is $108.99 CDN. is this a fairly good scope? or a $100 piece of crap? If its any good it might be finding its way onto a savage model 12FV chambered in .243
Does this sound like a decent enough setup for target/coyote hunting? or am i on crack for thinking of such a setup?
any input would be appreciated
thx

From all that I have been reading Andrew, if the Tasco is made in japan, then it probably is the good variety. However, if it isn't, then I have read that they are not the best things in the world.

I personally don't have any experience with them, so I can't honestly tell you one way or the other, but I am sure that there are people on here who have delt with them personally.

Don't waste your money on Tasco

Andrew, for $90.00 more you could get a decent Leupold or even a Nikon. I have a Leupold 2-7X33mm on my Mosin Nagant and I am very pleased with its performance and the warranty is really outstanding. You can get a real decent Leupold at Wal-Mart. My opinion is a quality scope starts at about$180.00 and can even be over $1000. Don't waste your time and money with the cheapys because eventually you will want a quality scope.

i know this thread is pretty old now, but instead of posting a new one i thought i would add this. i found a bushnell legend series scope for $229.00CDN in the same catalog. it is a mil dot scope but only has 5-15x. is this scope worth the money? and if its worth buying, could i put it on my 7mm mag without worrying about damaging the crosshairs?
