Hi All,

Does anyone know of a decent scope that has a camera either inside of it or some kind of device that records what the hunter see's through the scope? After watching a few shows on the Outdoor Network Channel where you can
see what the hunter sees through the scope makes me want one. That way I can actually back-up all the outragous shots that I claim I made during the hunt. Unfortuantly the TV shows don't mention any such camera/scope and I haven't been successful searching the web. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks,
Mitch

  • The world's first Digital Rifle Scope
  • Electronic Ballistics Compensation
  • Automatic Video Capture
  • Multiple Selectable Reticles (Customizable Reticles)
  • No Parallax
  • Longest Eye Relief
  • Large Constant Exit Pupil
This is what you're looking for...and only $1200! :o

Bushnell, Nikon and Burris have a similar scope, and it's only $800!

For that price, I can live with not having a "moment of impact" photo.

An article in The American Hunter about the Elcan said it records ten seconds of action, IIRC.

Interesting to me was the deal where he thought he'd missed his shot on a coyote, but a review of the video indicated a possible hit. Going to where the coyote had been when shot at, sure enough; dead coyote.

I know one was developed (or a camera adapter developed) for a rifle scope and offered on the police market. The idea was to film everything the sniper saw and to protect the department from a lawsuit.

Don't know if I should be worried or amused by that statment. You need a video camera and not a still photos. Unless the game is in close you willl not get the desired results if there is quite a few yards between your camera and the game. If squeezing the trigger activates the camera in video mode then you should be fine, but there might be enough distance between you and the game the impact might not be photographed with a still camera.

That said I wouldn't be looking to make "outrageous shots" just for bragging rights and wanting photos to back them up.

Hi Gang!

Hey, thanks SO much for your feedback. I had spoke with a few friends and they said the same as davlandrum in that they thought, as did I, that there was a camera lens with a cross-hair in it to make you think you were seeing what the hunter was seeing. I figured that a scope like this would more expensive than what you’ve shared here. I’ve been looking at a couple of the scope and I think the ELCAN is what I’m looking for and despite it takes only 10sec of video, I think that’s actually a long time considering I only need the acquisition and shot and perhaps a few seconds afterwards to prove the shot in video. Of course after saying that, the second I by this thing, another will come out on the market with 6 times the features and capacity! Thanks JohnKSa for the link and art_eatman for the follow-up! It looks like the other scopes just take still pictures.
Looks like I know where my tax-refund and my May government stimulus check will go!

And regarding my “outrageous shot” comment. Well, I hunt with a bunch of Flat-Landers (IL) and Mud-Ducks (MN) and if they said the sky was blue, you’d have to go out and actually look. Like most hunting camps, there’s non-stop BS, boasting, and bragging, as tradition calls for ;-) Please do not confuse that with un-ethical hunting practices. I just wanted to say hey, I made a 100 yrd shot through the timber rather than them saying it was only 10 yrds. It would also be great to share the hunt with others whom I do not hunt with. BTW, I’m a Cheese-Head from WI.

Thanks again,
Mitch
