Rifle related: filling rear sandbag

I wonder if any of you has a suggestion how to fill that last little bit of a rear rifle rest sand bag? I have gotten all I can in there, but it is still saggy.

There must be a better method I have not figured out.

I'm using Sinclair black sand and their funnel in a "Mini Gator" rear bag. The "ears" are nice and firm, but the main cavity is well... saggy, with a visible indentation in it.

Thanks guys.

Mods: If there is a more appropriate forum for this question I have no issue moving it.

Thanks in advance.

I use a short piece of golf club shaft, into which I insert a small funnel and tape the joint.

After inserting the shaft into the leather spout, I pour sand into the funnel with a small planting spade and move the shaft up and down to disperse sand into the nooks and crannies and pack it in. It works great!

My main rear bag if filled with #9 leaded bird shot, though it's illegal for some benchrest competitions. I also use a lead filled shoulder edge pad for my main rear bag to sit on. I store them in a ammo can, but it's very heavy to carry around; but it will make a bag firm an tight.

Hart does sell heavy sand for benchrest bags.
