Rifle or Unicorn? Can you guys help me identify this?

What is this? :)

After some searching I figured it out. It is a RARR in 300BLK, or could be called RARE for how few can be found. Considering I have been on every local shops waiting list for the last 9 months and considering the events that took place during the purchase I figured this had to be a unicorn.

I did call all 6 shops to let them know I finally picked one up, 3 of them said don't shoot it and send it back to Ruger as they were having troubles with it and that's why no one can get them. I think we all know about the magazine feeding issues, so I have no worries there.

Me and a close friend went into a new shop today one we had never been in and just looked around. I told him you know what no harm in asking, so I proceeded to the counter and asked about the RARR in 300BLK the guy said he just sold the last one only a few hours prior. Well just my luck right, well the manager came over and said are you sure, he proceeded to the back and a few minutes later returns with a very long white box. This couldn't be true, no way he said yes here is your 6968 this is the last one. He then told the guy helping me you looked in the wrong place.

I went right home mounted the scope and headed to the range. As soon as I get to the range a torrential down pour and serious lightening. It only lasted about 15 minutes and there was one other family there waiting so I figured I don't feel to bad I am not the only crazy one. After the rain there was serious wind so I was pretty excited in the results of my first 5 shots with the rifle.

As you can see I quickly reloaded a few rounds just to try and beat the rain.

Stay tuned for a full review of this RARR to be added to the rest of my 300 Blackout Journey of load and chronograph data.

It does look like a nice scope, sorry if I derailed your thread a bit, thanks for telling me, though.

Do you plan on suppressing it? It does have a threaded barrel, IIRC?

Guess I haven't had that problem, but I've traveled quite a bit recently. I would have to order one to get one within 20 miles of where I live. However I traveled in the last 6 months to Cabela's in KC and the mother ship Bass Pro in Springfield MO as well as the Bass Pro in KC, and Colorado Springs and they've had them on the shelves. There are several gun shops in Colorado Springs that have them on the shelves as well. The Sportsman's Warehouse in the Springs had the best price I've found on them at just under $400 out the door after my military discount.

I haven't purchased one yet as I already have an Encore in .300BLK. It's a fun round but not really practical for me and what I mainly want a rifle to do. That's why I haven't went either the AR or bolt action route yet.

Talk to Darrik at Whittaker's gun shop in KY, he's manufacturing extended magazines for the RAR .223 rifles. They are making them as to allow a longer COAL for 75 grain bullets to take better advantage of the RAR 1:8 twist in .223. That should allow you to not have some of the same COAL issues you had in your AR and allow you to seat those 203 grain bullets out a little further.
