Rifle inserts for shotguns.

I am considering buying a rifle barrel insert for a Savage double barrel in 45-70 from MCA sports in Alaska. Has anyone ever used one? What kind of accuracy can I expect? Say 100 yards?

I am doing this because I have to, not because I want to make a double rifle.

Thanks for any help.

Are you going to tube both barrels? If yes you may have a real problem "Regulating" both barrels to shoot to the same point. The reason double rifles cost soo much is the problem getting both barrels to shoot to the same point of aim.

Of you only tube one barrel then you have no problem adjusting for point of aim. Just remember to install the tube in the proper barrel.

Europeans are very fond of tubing their drillings for a second rifle caliber.

Check out some of the jewels on this website :D

Click on Hunting guns and check out the "Plus" drilling. they have some info on barrel inserts FWIW.

Oh well, we can dream can't we:D (And there is always the lottery)

There's a Russain sxs shotgun...

...at a local shop that comes with a .45-70 insert in one of the barrels. Of course, you have to get used to aiming the rifle with the bead sight, but it can be done, so long as the ranges are reasonable.
