Rifle Help

Hello everyone this is my first post here, anyway i'm looking to go all out on a new rifle, mainly as a long range battle rifle of sorts, already have an AK-47 and am looking into something with more range and more modular ability. I'm considering a scar 17s, low weight, low recoil great reliability and accuracy and in a very hard hitting .308, and i'm also strongly considering an LWRC m6a3 DMR rifle which is military proven and very high quality as far as the ar-15 platform goes and has a longer barrel to hopefully add to the .556s ability a bit, any thoughts on which one i should get, or any recommendations on something in the price range? sorry for such a long first post XD

In a long range battle rifle, I would want something that can provide the energy at distance as well as offer offer the ability to buck the wind. Although the .223/5.56 is capable of shooting long distances, you really won't have the energy that a .308 would have. The FN appears to be a great weapon. You could also go with the LWRC R.E.P.R. that is in .308.

Both are capable of the distances with the right round, but for me, I would want the energy

That is true, and thanks for your opinion i agree, and that's one of the reasons i can't really settle on the LWRC in 556. i looked up the REAPER but due to its price and its heavy weight id probably go for the scar 17s instead, i forgot to mention price/ ammo and magazine availability is a major issue here, otherwise i would get the scar no questions, magazines are nearly impossible to find and as far as new production .308 goes 85 cents a round seems normal, i'm really just trying to figure out if the scar is worth those drawbacks vs. a weapon such as the LWRC,

Not sure what price range you mean as I don't see a price in your post. However, the HK MR762 is hitting store shelves now. It isn't cheap however.

sorry about not clarifying the price range, the scar will be $2700 or so with tax that would be my absolute max price point, and even then i may have to wait a while to get some bulk ammo, and and eternity for nice optic and magazines, and that HK MR762 looks promising any idea on cost/ magazine availability?, and the PTR 91 seems like a good economic choice, however it is a bit hefty although i know i could handle it XD the PTR 91 dosent have a lot of out of the box modular ability though :(

I have not done any pricing but LMT 308 Gun would be on the top of the list if you are looking for an AR DGI type. The Brits bought it as their mid distance sniper platform (mid distance to them, over the horizon to me!) Long distance I guess would be the 338 Lapua in the Sako TR-42 (I think I have that right).

RRA also makes a gun in that genre. Not sure what kind of reputation but their AR types are very well done (not mil spec which I think means nothing except maybe the bolt test, keeping in mind that high power hunting rifles do not do a proof test on the bolt either!

As the DGI system is virtually free floating, its as accurate as the cartridge being fired is capable of being (right barrel of course)

LMT seems to make a pretty awesome .308, but out of those two that RRA seems to be my pick, their elite operator has some pretty great features. But im not a huge fan of DGI although i don't have any experience with them and i know they work, it also makes since they would be more accurate, however from a mechanical standpoint i'm not to fond of the principal. in the event i would need this firearm (SHTF) i i would be unlikely to be able to lubricate it much if at all i, and i heard form various forums ect. that the M-16 platform in general likes to run wet, so a piston driven design is what i'm leaning twords, but i will strongly consider that RRA
