Rifle Cleaning Question

I've always used a bore guide to keep gunk from getting down in my action but I was trying "Wipe Out" (with the tube that goes down the barrel) and that stuff went everywhere. I just gave it a little shot and it was foaming all over. In any case I got it behind the chamber where the locking lugs of the bolt go. I had a heck of a time getting it out of there. Has anyone got some "method" they use they makes it easier. I have these big fat hands that make getting in these kind of places a real chore.

Jerry,
I just got thru cleaning my really old Benjamin .22 pellet pump up rifle and had sort of the same thing happen with the cleaner. I grabbed up a handful of Q-tips and swabbed everything up inside the chanber clean as I could.
Q-tips can get into some fairly small areas.
I had a real good friend of my dad who have both since passed away give me this pellet gun some years ago and I had never cleaned the barrel on it, and from the looks of things, neither had he  . You should have seen all the lead fouling residue that come out of the barrel !!

Sounds like you are gearing up and cleaning stuff to take to the range to do a little test firing on a newly bedded rifle? Am I close to right? ;)

You got it! I never cleaned it after the last range session. I was so PO'd I took it directly to Gander.

I use brake parts cleaner to rinse hard to reach areas, it washes it real clean and leaves no residue. If the area you rinse needs lube it will need to be relubed. Also the company that makes that foam stuff also makes a cleaner/lube aerosol. I have tried it and it seems to work pretty well. Hope that sucker shoots right now. If not, with that pretty stock it should sell good at the gun show.

I just put a couple of patches at, not in, the chamber area to keep it out of the action. I don't care to have harsh chemicals on my skin so I don't put my finger over the hole.
