Hi! I'm new to this forum and have a problem. I just bought a 1967 Remington 760 and its in decent shape except for the inside of the barrel! It looks like the past owner never cleaned it! The rifling is loaded with lead and build up. So far I have made some progress cleaning it but need some tips on how to get the barrel back in shape and remove all the lead! Thanks for any tips you might have.

removing lead from a rifle barrel

Shooter's Choice makes a solvent specifically for lead removal.

Another thing that works well is a mixture of Shooter's Choice (or another good solvent -- Hoppe's #9 or military rifle bore cleaner (RBC) or Rusteprufe) and Kroil penetrating oil. This mix will work on both lead build up or copper fouling.

J-B bore paste might be another option.
