Rifle Bedding Recoat Question.

The bedding job I did last week needs a skim coat in certain areas to smooth out, and fill in areas that I filed down to make the action sit right.

Do I need to go over the whole 'modeling clay' spiel again, or can I just tape off the areas on the stock that are going to have Devcon near them?

In other words ... I don't want to have to go through the whole process of putting modeling clay in my mag well, receiver, and stock voids if I can get away with it.

Should I be ok as long as I ensure that I have a thorough taping and release agent coverage?

I use an acid brush and paint the area

I use an acid brush and paint the area that needs filling in Remember your release compound.
A skim bed is where I need to remove 1/8 inch and re-bed. The skim bed is for glass jobs that are old.
I coat the metal and stock in the areas with vasoline.
