"Ride with the Devil" - Good movie

Rented a recently released video last night,
enjoyed it a lot. "Ride with the Devil" is set in the civil war time period, depicts the Kansas / Missouri border guerilla conflict. A good period piece, it seems to be accurate, without a lot of the cliches that afflict so much of todays movies.

This is the same region and conflict that provided the setting for "The Long Riders" and the beginning of "The Outlaw Josey Wales". I thought some of you guys might like it.

Matrix, check out The Jack Bull if you can find it. I thought it was a pretty good movie about one man's idea of justice in a time when you had to make your own.

I mentioned this when we had a thread on the History Channel show on Quantrill, but in case anyone missed it, the city of Lawrence, Kansas, raided by Quantrill, had just passed a gun control ordinance and almost no one was armed, although traditionally the anti-slavery settlers were heavily armed with Winchesters.

I caught this movie when it came out Dec last year in Toronto. It never came to my city in IL. Now it is here in rentals. Already rented & watched it again. Very good portrayal of Bushwacker life & mindset.
