Hello TFL,
I am a new member here and have a question for you. The last two ribs on my Winchestre 1300 came detached from the barrel today. I am not sure if they were loose before or if they just detached at once. I honestly havent been paying that close attention to this gun as it is my field/hunting/dog training gun.
What can I do to get the ribbing attached back to my barrell? I bout the gun used and it would cost more than the price I paid for the gun to replace the barrell. However, I am in college and cant afford a new gun right now. Any tricks of the trade out there? Would it be a horrible idea to weld that ribs back to the barrel? What about tapping the top of the barrel and placing a couple screws through the rib just into the barrell? I am no gunsmith by any means but have a couple friends that are. I just wanted to hear a variety of suggestions before I do anything.
I called a Winchester dealer and they said there was nothing I could do...there is no way to reattach the ribs. I find that hard to believe but I suppose that is possible....any suggestions?
