I received help on this issue a while back and need your help again
(1911tuner, you out there?).
This is the basic model 1911A1 Government, no beeps or whistles.
It has a pretty beefy slide stop, and came with one 8 round ACT mag.
I have taken .001 or more off the contact surface of the stop, as well as some from where it meets the follower. I now believe the problem to be the mag, as it still locks back prematurely with hot loads, and the stop is getting well engaged, perhaps 1/16" or more. My 7 round SA mags have not created this problem, and have even failed to lock back the slide after the last round (in the RIA). I worry that my stoning the slide stop may have been unnecessary, and may have even removed too much metal. This is assuming that the problem is in the ACT mag.
is there any way to tune this mag so that it will not cause premature lockback, and/or does anyone have more insight into this problem?
Thanks in advance,
-jp
