RIA 1911 9mm threaded barrel help

I have a Rock Island Armory 1911 in 9mm (it ts the Tac Ultra Ms series)
It has a 4.2" bull barrel, bushing-less, no ramp.

I just cant seem to find a threaded bull barrel.
I have yet to get my first suppressor, before I start paperwork I want to make sure I have a gun I can put it on.

I have even contacted storm lake and they dont make one.

I can get a 5" standard 1911 9mm barrel for $50 and I have the means to thread it myself, but would a non-bull barrel set up to be used with a bushing work in my gun?

I already a lot of you are going to say leave it alone and buy a platform better suited for a suppressor, like the sw mp, sig sauer, glock, etc, etc. But im a full time student atm, and I couldnt afford to buy a new gun.

If my idea above doesnt work out then it doesnt work out, lol. Ill put the money up and wait till im done with school.

Thanks in advance for help

Barrel OD is 17.54mm
slide ID is 17.58mm
??? Are you in Canada or Europe? I thought everyone used English units when discussing 1911s, since that's what the official blueprints available on-line use.

Okay ... 17.45 mm looks like about .6906 inches. A standard barrel will be .580" at the muzzle, so you do really have a bull barrel, and that means my idea of just buying a 5" barrel and then cutting and threading it won't work.

Another approach might be to cut your slide to accept a standard barrel bushing. Then you could buy a standard barrel and shorten and thread it. According to the blueprints I have, a standard slide should have an I/D. at the muzzle of .699" + .003". The barrel bushing should be O.D. .696" - .005". The I.D. of your slide is .6921", which isn't too large. So you could do it, but it looks like (if your measurements and my conversion are correct) you would have to open up the I.D. of the slide a bit, which would make your OEM barrel a rather sloppy fit.

That was a long repsonse for "No".

My metric micrometer was readily available. Forgot about the universal law to only measure 1911's with standard inches.

I hope I didn't offend the 1911 guys by saying it was chambered in 9mm also, Ill start referring to it being chambered in .355 caliber now.

:D

Lol, I figured it wouldn't work, but I was just asking in the slight chance it might. Its a fun range gun so ill keep it stock, and will probably go buy a gun that already has a threaded barrel from my local dealer.
:p

I have the same gun and I am about to send the barrel and slide over to ADCO so they can internal thread and add an extension.

Someone on another forum did this with great results:
