Trucker,
I see you had bought a kimber eclipse 2 and were not happy with it, is that correct? I would stick with it over a RIA 10mm. Maybe swap a few parts with high quality aftermarket and you should be able to achieve a reliable gun. Most problems related to 1911 issues are magazines, extractors, and feed ramps. I would bet the kimber is made better than the RIA. I have shot a few kimbers (my dad has one, my buddy has one), and i have shot a few RIA 1911s. All were in .45acp, but to me the kimber is made better with higher quality material.
I owned a gen3 Glock model 20 a few years ago, and loved the pistol, just could not shoot it well, the grip size just did not work with my hands. I shot about 400rds through it and gave up. I tried a few more polymers in .40 and realized i am only content with a 1911. Although the walther ppq .40 i had was rrrreally nice, miss it.
If i were you, i would try to work with your kimber, or possibly sell it for a loss and save up more bucks and get a colt delta elite. The colt is mostly forged steel, and would be the strongest option
