Can anyone tell me anything about RG revolvers? A friend has one she got from her father its possibly 10-20yrs old, she dosent know for sure, it was purchased new(?) for $54.00, I thought I might take it to natl. gun day next show and see if its worth anything to anyone for her. Thanks

NOT WURTH NUTHIN

Might shoot (accurately!), might spit lead, might have timing issues, might be worth keeping as a gun-you-keep-loaded-but never-ever-fire-unless-you-absolutely-must.
Maybe.

Revolvers made by Rohm Gesellschaft (RG) were very cheaply made to sell at a price, and were the original of the term "Saturday Night Special". The best that can be said is that some almost rose to the level of usable. $54 would have bought one of the better ones, most sold at from $9-15. Regretably, the gun really is worth little or nothing, even on the illegal market. Your friend might want to keep it for its association with her father, but otherwise, if you find a gun "turn-in" in the area where she can get $50 or $100 for it, dump it and buy something better that she can shoot and enjoy the hobby.

Speaking of hobbies and RGs, they make pretty good trot line weights. Would not want anyone I cared about to risk their life on one.

thanks guys, thats what i figured, she was thinking of doing the turn in thing, so i'll let her know thats the best way to go.

RG Indutries

My gunsmith says that RG stands for "real gun".
Every RG I have ever seen was made of very soft metal and with no quality control.
It soulds like a good WALL HANGER [not to be shot].

"RG" does not stand for real good,i don't think i could sell it to anybody, take to a buyback program or file off the firing pin and use it for a paperweight:D

I have an RG "38 Spezial" snubby, too...can't find a model number anywhere on it, so i don't know exactly what is is. Shoots reasonably well, will keep them on the paper @15 Yds, so it works for me, but only as a "last resort in your face nose-to-nose" range home defense gun. I'll empty my 4 KP90 mags, and several clips from the M-1 garand, before I start firing this one, though.

EXCUSE ME

A million years ago I owned a medium-frame 4" 38 RG.
Decent shooter; minor spitting. Suprisingly accurate (good ammo?).
Not suggesting it was any more than it was, but way better than its (used) price.

I love my RG 22

It shoots pretty accurately, spits only occasionally, and it's the only revolver I own where I can wiggle the barrel:D
