Revolver shooting is like golf

About 6 months ago I was on a revolver kick, and I was shooting my Ruger GP100 and Dan Wesson 15-2 almost every weekend. My double action groups were looking good and I was obscenely pleased with myself. I put the revolvers away and started shooting rifles and 22 semi-autos for awhile.

Went back to revolvers today, and it reminded me of playing golf after a six month layoff. Some good groups, but lots of flyers and bad groups as well. A few times I missed the entire scored portion of the target. Guess I am going to have to get my "swing" perfected again.

nice looking setups

Pistol shooting requires so much muscle memory that regular practice is always a good idea. If you can't shoot every day like Wild Bill used to setting a regular schedule for shooting will help. Around here we find that shooing any kind of handgun works to keep the muscles trained. BB or pellet pistols or even airsoft handguns make excellent practice in areas firearms may be inappropriate. Airsoft guns have a plus in that they come in exact matches to many common handguns and you can practice force on force training with them. We shoot airsoft just about every day. That's a LOT of trigger time.

Never palyed golf..but I do know what you mean..used to be very heavy into IHMSA pistol silhouette.. Won several state championships. practiced several times a week..I was single & working 2nd. shift, had mornings free & whole range to myself. Then I got married..started working lots of overtime & with over a dozen fruit trees needing pruining & spraying & lots to mow, and other chores around the house..well my practice went by the wayside. My scores plumeted!

Sorry Rogervzv your way off the mark on that one.
I do play golf.
1. I don’t remember the last time I built my own golf balls, 10,000 of them a year.
2. I don’t remember when I had 9 of the same club in my bag (N frame 44SP)
3. I don’t remember the last time I didn't hit within 10 inches of my target at 300 yards and was MAD!
4. And last, I don’t know of any golf ranges indoors.

I agree, but not just with revolver shooting. When I play a good round or have a good day at the range, I play the shots over in my head and can't wait to do it again. When I have a bad day, I swear I'm never doing it again.

Man........I hate golf.......could never stand it.........

but that ruger rocks!..............YO thumbs up

"FORE" just don't work well on the range
