Revolver cleaning question

I am cleaning up a .357 for sale/trade. It is stainless. It has some stubborn black deposits inside the cylinder flutes and along the outside front edge of the cylinder.

I tried Hoppes #9, and I tried my old lead wipe away cloth (10 years old?). This took some off, but not enough?

Any suggestions as to how I get rid of these?

Try a pencil eraser. Sounds stupid but quite often it works. At least it will get it a little farther along. Flitz and Hoppes together applied with a tooth brush and some elbow grease will clean it up too.

For cylinder face, unless I have some of that Lead Wipe Away, I use a stainless steel brush. As for the cylinder flutes, same (unless the gun is one of those highly polished SS).
