Well, I got my 686P back from the gunsmith - he put in a Wolff Spring Kit (type 2 reduced power, power rib mainspring, and 14lb rebound spring), as well as a Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight.
The springs made an enormous difference in the trigger pull - it not only feels much lighter, it also feels smoother.
The fiber front sight is a little dissappointing. While it is very bright in strong light, it dims quickly and doesn't do much of anything in a dimly lit room. It's not that long, so perhaps that's the reason - not a lot of light being collected.
Next weekend I will take a one day training course that will require us to fire 400 rounds. I am glad the trigger is lighter now, or I could see a major trigger finger problem by end of the day. 400 rounds should give a pretty good idea if the ignition reliability has been compromised at all by the lighter springs. I will let you guys know what the result is ;-).
