Revelation 12 gauge

I just bought a Revelation Western Auto that I'm sure is a Mossberg 500A copy. It's stamped Model 310A. I'd like to add a short police forend since I've had the barrel cut from 28 inches to 18.5. Can this be done? Can it be done in wood? And lastly, are these guns any good for a home defense weapon? For having only fifty bucks in it so far, I feel I can't really go wrong.

I think Mossberg uses more than one length of fore-arm tube on their pump guns, not just different forearms. Might be wise to check with someone who knows Mossbergs better than I do on that detail before ordering the part, or make sure the part you order fits the same size forearm tube you have now.

ETA: Yep- looks like senility isn't taking over quite yet. Take a look at the third picture down on the page at http://www.havlinsales.com/model500.htm for the two sizes.

It's got the 7-5/8" action assembly. I've noticed two hairline cracks in the wood stock on either side right behind the receiver too. I've only got 70.00 tied up in it, counting cutting the barrel to 18.5" and threading in a new bead front sight. Don't want to spend too much on wood; may have to go synthetic, but I'll check those options. This gun had a LONG plug in the mag, bringing round count down to about three. I removed it and was able to fit in four. Took the tube apart and got the spring out, and there was a short piece of tubular plastic in the spring, tapered at one end. I couldn't see ANY function for it, other than acting as another plug, so I took it out. Magazine now holds five plus one in the chamber. I downloaded an owner's manual from Mossberg, and they don't show that piece of plastic at all, just a regular shotgun plug. Wonder what it is?

That havlin sales has factory take off wood for as little as $45 bucks...
Can't beat that at all.

BTW, That plastic may have been an assembly tool dropped in and easier to send it on than jiggle it a few more seconds to get it out.
