Return policies & Lemon laws for all firearms. They have them for cars and you know the paper work and all that goes with that. I just got a new hand gun and I paid very good todays money for It and It is back to were I got It for repairs? I never shot It once! If I had Operas wallet, I would not care, but I don't. She would just have someone take care of it! When I get this back I know I will always have my doubts about this pistol! After all the years I do know myself. It just goes to show just how well that Mr. Murphy works, I have 6 Taurus hand guns, One revolver( The Judge ) and 5 Semi autos, and as I hear on this site It does not have a great rep. Now I got my self a Sigarms handgun which on the other hand has a very good rep. To date I never had any problems with any of the Taurus handguns that I have and the one Sig that I own, had to go back with out having been fired once, So hence Mr. Murphy in all his glory!!!:) As I write this I have a feeling that this is going to go over like a lead balloon, or passing gas In Chirch! Just like term limits for all our politicians, this to will never happen!
I guess this Is just me getting something off my chest:(. Hank D.

Murphy may have bit you, but consider yourself lucky that it was a new Sig that has problems and not one of your Taurii. I'm guessing there maybe a slight difference in CS levels between the two.

Speaking of Murphy, what exactly was the issue with the Sig?

It happens. Whether you have a Taurus, Sig, Beretta, Colt, ETC., it happens. You cannot expect perfection from every gun that leaves the factory. People are human and make mistakes. Guns are machinary that break. It's life......

I don't know your name so I'll just call you Russ for now if that's ok with you.
I got the pistol new, and as I always do before shooting any new weapon I take it apart, Inspect it clean and lub, put it back in order and go! I have 9 other 1911, Colt, kimber,Springfield, so I have taken them apart before and I also have been shooting for well over 50 years, I worked on this pistol for about 3 hours the day I got It and could not get it apart, I stopped and read the instructions agin to make sure I was not missing something and then put it down for the night and myself also, In the morning a fresh start and went at it again, I don't quite know how but I finily got it apart, the barrel bushing would not turn as far as It should have counter clockwise enough to get the plug and spring out and then I had a vey hard time swinging It back the other way to remove it, I had to alter my Colt barrel bushing wrench so to fit over this bushing, I used a die grinder on it and I also had this gun in my vice with rubber jaws and didn't over tighter the vice before you ask, let me add here I have been working with tools and metal working all my life and I never had to fight with a gun like this, I'm also NOT a gunsmith. I know to never try to force anything, I cleaned the weapon and lubed same I looked this over and I could not see ant thing that would have caused this, no burs or dents, nothing, and I started to put It back together and It would not go, so with that I stopped and took it back the the gunshop that I got it from and I told the guys wife that runs the place to send this pistol back to Sigarms. I was told that he Is a gunsmith? he was not In when I took it back and I never had him do any gunsmithing work for me before that why the ? mark. And as far as my Mr. Murphy remarks they were not just for this gun thing, it was ment In general, so lighten up all:D .Have a nice day all:)

guns trouble

I dont know if its the rush to make or just bad workmanship. I know older guns were much better made than now.being as I am from anothe age,I stick to american guns except for military.my S&W mod 10 my 1911s.I think we have got to buying in to the foreign guns to much.my pick is ruger,s&w,colt is out.to much fancy add ons.
but the old names did not keep up their machinery so winchester is gone.and the tastes of gun owners changed with all the hipe.I grew up with IVER J and H&R.soke were real good shooters.and the price was low.I bought my S&W mod 28 new $69.:eek::D

I think in general that not one of the bigger companies make as good a gun as they did a couple years ago. Some of the newer companies have got'n better and some are still crap. You just buy what you think you want and hope it's a good one. For what it's worth the sheriffs dept in a large nearby county has had 2 sigs returned and replaced and a ole buddy back in fl had his return for a (tuneup) after the dept armor gave up on it. All where p220's. Stuff happens i guess.

So...we take the gun apart and cant put it back together so thats SIGs fault:confused:?

Man, Sig sure seems to do a number on their "1911's" they are producing in the last 3 years or so.

Can't wait to get my warranty replacement back from Exeter so I can sell it unfired to someone else.

They finally admitted to a frame cut error in it after its 3rd trip back.

Magazine catch hole was cut too low. Result was failure to feed or fully return to battery since the bullet would mash into the feed ramp on the frame. Consistently seated the bullet another 0.005" deeper each time you'd cycle one.

The hole was about 0.050" too low. May not sound like much, but that's more than 10% of the diameter of a .45 diameter bullet. Since the bullet can only be guided via the bottom 1/3 of its diameter (about 0.015") I was missing about 1/3 of the expected bearing surface and had too steep an ogive to feed. The result was a failure to feed unless I teacupped the magazine in place.

I've been waiting for over 6 weeks for a replacement from them. Details here:

Lemon law

I work on cars and i'll tell you it is exactly the same. One person can buy model X and never have problem one with it. The next guy can buy the exact same car and it be a pile of crap everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. I would say like cars the vast majority of them are good with various normal issues to a greater or lesser degree but there are lemons out there. Don't let a bad exp sour you on a gun or anything else. Look at it like this, lets say Sigs are 99.9 % trouble free. Now that you have had a bad one you can but Sigs from now till Doomsday and chances are everyone will be perfect!
