Restock Ruger or go new?

Currently, I have a Ruger 77 Mark I in .25-06 that I picked up with a POS scope for 300. I really like this caliber but this particular rifle is not pretty. The action has a purple hue and the former owner put a Ramline plastic stock on it. Does anyone make a laminate stock for this thing? I have not been overly impressed with the accuracy thus far but have not really played enough with my loads to write her off and am also thinking a better stock and bedding would help. The trigger is the saving grace at a crisp 1#.

I have also been eyeing a Sendero in my local shop. Love my 700 LTR so I wouldn't mind that at all.

Try 'Richard's Micro-fit Stocks' for nice laminates (semi-inletted, you'd have to do the finishing yourself.)

They advertise in Gun List and Shotgun News.

Make sure you get the right stock. The "plum" receivers I have seen are all from the Original M-77's which have a different stock than the M-77 MK II. Check to see if it has a blade ejector or plunger ejector. The plunger is the old version. Fajen DID make a laminated stock but I'm not sure what's wrong with the Ramline. I like the Ramline even if it's a bit ugly. when mixed with the wood finish. I'd try to bed the RamLine and live with it. Sounds like the gun's cheap enough no use putting lots of money into it. Also, the accuracy might be a product of the Scope itself. You did say it was a POS didn't you?

Yeah the scope that came on the gun was a POS Weatherby but I replaced it with a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20x40mm AO so I doubt it is the scope. Sorry, guess I needed to give more complete info. Mine is definitely the original version M-77 with the tang mounted safety. I'll have to check on the ejector. I appreciate the help.

Wenig Custom Gun Stock can supply the laminated stock for this rifle as reasonably as it might be found. They can and do offer several levels of service that can match your level of skill in restocking this rifle.

Frankly, restocking rifles is expensive anywhere you have it done and I would not do it unless I had a real commitment to the rifle in question.
