Resources for polishing

I am currently working on a "project" carry pistol, and one of the operations I would like to do myself is polishing before sending it out for finishing (this is a steel, not SS piece).

I am looking for a source of information on just how to go about the polishing operation.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

Mak

Brownell's offers a free pamplet that they include with their bluing equipment how to properly prep for polishing. It's the Bluing Instruction Booklet. I don't see an item number but give them a call and see.

Jantz Supply out of Davis, OK (1-800-351-8900) has a ready supply of polishing tools and gunsmithing supplies on hand too. Check out their ad. in the Shotgun News.

Their main bag is Knife making, but they also have quite a lot of gun related tools on hand. They also include (like Brownell's) running commentaries about tool usage, and product information in their catalog. An excellant reference to all who tinker!!!

Good Luck!
