Hello all,
I am researching rifles in my Dad's collection, some of which came from his father and his father-in-law. Some have serial numbers, some do not. I have been to the manufacturer sites and shotgunworld.com and haven't found answers. Any other suggestions? They are:
Mfgr-Model / Serial Number / Other info
Browning Sweet Sixteen / 2913
Winchester 1400 / 130677 / 12 ga
Fox Sterlingworth / no serial# / double barrel
Remington 721 / 168171 (Dad says he bought from NRA as part of a government program to encourage citizen training, & NRA was contracted to retail these guns, originally made for WWI or WWII...anybody got more and/or corrected info on that bit of info??)
Swift 220, model #98 / 270a
Remington Rimfire
Marlin Firearms 336 R.C. / 30-30
Marlin Firearms Model #50 / .22 Magnum

Wow too many questions at one time and you did not say exactly what you wanted to know about each weapon.

Go here and do a search for each one and you might get the answers you want.

http://www.gunbroker.com/

If not come back and ask about each weapon in a separate thread asking specific questions and if at all possible show pictures of the weapon.. Instructions on how to post pictures are at the top of the forum page.

The Remington 721 wasn't introduced until 1948. Remington uses a barrel code system for dating guns. The letters are stamped on the barrel just in front of the receiver.

It's really hard to tell much about a gun without pics, especially the older ones that could have been modified or even ordered with options.

Swift 220, model #98 / 270a

I assume you mean .220 Swift. What brand of rifle is the (I assume) model 98 Mauser design based on or is it actually a Model 98 Mauser?

Remington Rimfire

You need a lot more information than this to get any meaningful input.

Well, what information you are trying to find might be a good place to start. Then people might actually have some pertinent information to offer regarding each one.

I'm so new to this I don't even know what questions to ask. I will get photos and post individual inquiries after collecting as much info as I can from my Dad.
