Hello,

My fathers old .22 which was his fathers old .22 is a Springfield Model 53 - B.

I searched at Gunsamerica.com and google for more info and didn't find any. I was wondering how old it might be (and now, since I didn't find any info) rare it might be. I didn't disassemble it but, didn't see a serial number on it anywhere.

It is a single shot bolt action .22 s.r.\l.r..

I am also wondering about acquiring a new buckhorn sight for it, as I broke the original and replaced it with a more modern sight almost 20 years ago. And maybe a front sight as wellas it looks like it has seen better days.

Seeker, the Stevens/Springfield Model 53 was made from about 1935-1948. For replacement parts I would recommend contacting the people at The Small Arms Shop. Hope this helps!

Thanks Steven!

That was a fast reply. Are these old rifles worth anything - not that it is for sale, but insurancewise?

TFL is an amazing place for firearms info.
