where do you guys recommend to buy reprocessed lake city 5.56 brass ?
I want good brass and don't want to have to redo the primer pocket crimp myself, I want it ready to reload.
These folks had some good looking examples at the NRA meeting's exposition floor this past weekend. I've forgotten how they define "premium" vs. "Grade A" and other levels of processing, so you'd have to call and ask. IIRC, the Premium has everything done to it, while there are options to skip some steps at the other levels, but I don't recall which is which. Note they also sell primed premium, so when you look at prices check for that, as it costs more with primers.
Jeff Bartlett at GI BRASS has mostly LC .223 that you can get for 75 bucks UN-processed and for 25 bucks more get it polished and the primer crimp reamed. Of course it then has to be sized, trimmed and chamfered in and outside before its primed. [per 1000]
QUOTE] Re-manufactured X-Treme Brass goes through several rigorous steps to ensure you are getting a quality component at a great price. The brass is full length sized back to factory new SAAMI specs, the primer pockets are reamed, then it is checked and washed using the latest technology available only to the X-Treme Brass and Freedom Munitions line of ammunition. This is premium ready to load brass which ensures reliable performance every time you pull the trigger.
Re-manufactured brass is available in either un-primed or primed.QUOTE
Notice they don't say anything about headstamp! That probably means it's range pick-up, it could have as many different headstamps as there are pieces of brass! Also, I wonder what primer they use? That would be important to duplicate the primer when reloading them after the first firing. Normal load work-up would account for an unknown primer type.
