Replica Arms Inc. Dragoon

I just pick up a unfired, in the original box, Replica Arms Inc., Marietta, OH, dragoon. It has a three digit serial #(8xx) and is unfired. I can not find any other markings or proof marks on this revolver other than the ser. #'s and the "Replica Arms" markings, so I have no idea who manufactured it.

Good find

Trip,

I have never been fond of the looks of the Dragoon. As you say....too massive.

But this looks like a real good find. Others in the group will know about serial numbers and such. I think that if it were mine, and if I had others to shoot, I would leave this in the box.

Just an opinion from a casual shooter.

Tnx,

I'm not sure about collectibility; Replica Arms was an importer, not a manufacturer. They imported and sold both Pietta and Uberti made guns marked with the RA name and address. At some point the company was purchased (or merged with) Navy Arms; for a short period the boxes the guns came in carried both the Replica Arms and Navy Arms logos. I have an 1851 Navy by Pietta marked with the Navy Arms Ridgefield NJ address but the box is marked with both the Navy Arms and Replica Arms logos.

This link is to a thread on this forum where the subject was discussed.

Just read an article

There is a brief article online that you can find by googling "history of Replica Arms".

It is dated 2006 and talks about Val Forgett III breathing new life into the group. It mentions, "low cost" and "entry level" weapons several times.

Well I've decided to sell it...I want something to shoot, I don't want to be the first to shoot it, so if any one is interested, I have posted it in the wanted to sell/trade section. :)

Triple W, glad to meet ya ... If ya like the Dragoon and it's what you wanted as a shooter...shoot it man.
I ain't much heavier than an ROA ... but much bigger than the Remington New Model Army...
I would be my choice if I were hunting or in need of a backup against Griz, Black, Brown, or Polar Bear...
As a Cowboy or Horse Soldier I'd a had a pair of um on my Promel ... and a Pair a Rems at my Side...
Think about it for ya let it go...deflowerin' your Black Powder Revs is a ritual not everybody gets a new one :O)
