Replacing tritium inserts?

I was wondering what a person does when their Sig P225 with tritium sights goes dim after 15 yrs ... it looks like the inserts themselves are not available ... any suggestions?

Thanks,

Saands

Handling the inserts requires licensing to handle radioactives.

Handling the inserts requires licensing to handle radioactives.

Given that it's mostly the slide involved and the outrageous issues with sending frames around can be sidestepped either new inserts installed or new sights loose or installed are available.

This is getting much simpler than I expected ... Trijicon will replace theirs for $54 including the return shipping ... I still need to talk to PT and see what it would be through them.

Thanks,

Tritium is the gas that's in the "pit" of a [plutonium bomb - LEAVE THEM ALONE! I sleeep with my pistol nite sights AWAY from me at night!

Thanks ... that is QUITE reasonable. Did they use your existing sights?
yes they used the stock hk sights.
I also have a set of their MMC adjustable sights on my 1076.they are awesome.

Well, I finally got a hold of MMC and talked to an EXTREMELY helpful and pleasant woman there. She explained to me that the sight vendors can only work on their own tritium tubes ... so while you can send any of them a slide with regular sights to retro-fit with tritium, Trijicon sights need to go back to Trijicon and MMC's need to go back to MMC. She even took the time to explain how to tell where they came from. My slide is now on its way back to Trijicon, but I think that if I add tritium to any existing sights, MMC's great customer service will have won them a customer.

Thanks all!

Harry Bonar, don't give yourself an ulcer:

There are GRAMS of tritium in a Bomb. Probably micrograms in your sights. And it's encased, and a weak Beta emitter anyhow. You're safe from your weapon as long as the sights are pointed away from you ;)

My night sights shining back at me from the nightstand are a great visual index for when I need to grab the pistola in a hurry. That's fortunately not often, but it's nice not to have to grab at it in the dark.

Harry, the beta particles emitted from tritium sights won't penetrate human skin. Fret ye not! ;)
