Replacing Cylinder Stop

I just picked up a used S&W 38-1. It was cheap because it was as-is. It is missing the cylinder stop and the cylinder stop spring. How easy is it to install these on my own?? Should i have a smith work on it or can i do it easy enough by myself? I am pretty good with guns and handywork but am no means a gunsmith or had any official training. Any suggestions??

Dear Shooter:
You could do it; I'd give "Gun Parts" a ring with the model of your gun and see if they might have a part - if not maybe a picture that you could make a new one from (it would take a few trials but if you dit it it would be confidence building).
