Hey everbody,
I want to replace the rear sight on my Charles Daly 1911. It has GI sights, I'm not worried about the front just want to put a carry rear sight on that will fit the factory cut. Something like Wilson Combat Rear Fixed Sight of Novak Carry Rear Sight. Do I need anything other than the sights and a drift puch to install them?

thanks, Cyric13

Probably not. Just make sure the new sights are cut correctly for the dove tail cuts in your slide.

The Wilson rear sight #367 will fit regular rear dovetail. The front sight requires milling the dovetail if your existing front sight is staked in. I'm not sure if the g.i. type front is tall enough to use with the Wilson's. The Novak low mount as well as the new Wilson's #463 require michining of the slide. Novak does make a rear sight that doesn't require slide milling, it goes into the standard dovetail and sits on the top surface of the slide.

How do I know what kind of cut is on the slide? In Brownell's the two I mentioned in my original post say that they fit factory dovetail cut.
