Replacements for rolled pins

For my SKS the compensator came with a rolled pin that lasted a few dozen rounds. The rolled pin couldn't take the strain, bent, and let the compensator go down range.

I have replaced the pin with a short length of appropriate diameter stainless steel rod (0.1" I think).

I have seen these rolled pins used on other guns, with the same problem.

Is there a proper replacement pin that can be used?

Gebooth, I think you've already found it. I replace roll pins with solid quite often. Generally speaking a roll pin will sometimes hold tighter because you are able to put it in a slightly smaller diameter hole. But if the hole is a little oversize or the same size as the roll pin there is no advantage. George

I agree. Roll pins are used by manufacturers because they are cheap, easy to install, and (usually) self retaining, where solid pins are more costly, and must be a close fit in some applications or they will come out. You did the right thing.
