Replacement stock for Fausti O/U

Ok, confession is good for the soul.

I broke the stock on my Fausti from Wal-mart. Great gun and I got it on sale for $300. I was squirrel hunting and had to "finish" a squirrel. While having a major brain-fart, I smacked the squirrel with the stock of the gun and broke the stock.

I have been looking around for a replacement stock online. Does anyone know what stock might also fit a Fausti? It looks a lot like a Weatherby and some others.

I'm going to a large gun show in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday and the "parts guys" there may prove to be resourceful. In the meantime, does anyone have a suggestion as to some other options?

I did call Traditions and they offered a new stock for $165 and a two month wait. So, that's the worst case. I'm looking to know of all the options.

I called gunparts and they offered a new stock at $171.

So far here are my choices in order of preference.
1. Indianapolis Gun show Friday (tomorrow)
2. New stock from Traditions (2 month wait, $165.
3. New stock from Bill, at gunstox.com $75-125. Requires my fitting.
4. gunparts.com at $171.

Thanks so much for all of the replies. I'll post the results of the gun show on Friday evening.

The rest of the story

Sadly, the Indy 1500 Gun show vendors did not have a replacement stock for the Fausti.

On the good side, I sold an old 22 rifle that nearly cover the cost of the stock. :D

So, all in all, a good effort and lots of good suggestions from you folks. Much appreciated.

Ordering from Traditions looks like the best option.

Don't know how much of a hurry you are in, but for the few extra dollars (less the 2 month wait) the gunparts.com deal might be better.

Thanks Bob,

I'll give them a call in the morning. The website says that the part is out of stock and to check back in 30-60 days. I'm beginning to wonder if they and Traditions are not connected in some way.

Bobshouse, do you mean e-gunparts.com (Numrich) or gunstocks.com (Great American Gunstock Co.)? I've ordered many a time from numrich, and while my experience with them has been chiefly good, the area where I've been most disappointed is wood. FWIW

However, it's often the only source for difficult-to-find wood

Romulus, just checked Numrich, looks like they have stocks available at pretty decent prices, but like you said, no pics. To tell the truth, my Fausti isn't really a show piece to begin with. I think if I really needed a replacement stock, and couldn't find one that I could preview before buying, I would save the money and go for one with Numrich....and keep my fingers crossed, hoping it would be halfway decent when I got it!:D

My reply to hunt4fun was for gunparts.com, I didn't realize that was Numrich's website.

Numrich said that they were completely out of stock on the one I needed and didn't have any idea when they would have one in. No expected date at all.

Traditions said that they could have one to me in 2 weeks or less.

I ordered one. We'll see.

The good news is that this has a happy ending. The stock from Traditions is a great match and even in better condition than the one that came on the gun when it was purchased.

$177. That sure was an expensive squirrel. He better taste good! :D

Thanks again for the suggestions. Great Forum!
