Renouncing Citizenship

Should Gore win...
What would happen if everyone who Voted Bush RENOUNCED Citizenship?

Quite frankly - The United States have become a mockery of the very ideology that we have sold to the world.

I am not quite sure if I want to be asociated with it.

Renouncing Citizenship sound like a horrid thing - but it is rather meaningless. One would still pay taxes, follow traffic code, shop at the same stores etc...
So what does that really mean?

Renouncing citizenship only means something if it is followed by application of citiznehsip in the newly formed country comprising the states who have seceded from the union.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Well, for one thing, it would mean that you couldn't vote. So I seriously doubt it would upset the Democrats...

TofR is correct. One of the question on the 4473 is, Have you ever renounced your US citzenship?
I suspect that the dems would love it if we all renounced our citizenship.
What I'd like to know is how I renounce my Missouri-ship?!?!?!?

Missouri; Home to ballot fraud and dead senators. We're so proud.

Guys, please don't take your ball and go home!

Let's not stoop to the level of the Baldwin's and the Cher's of the world. Lets continue to work to keep our country.

If they want to continue to force us down, they should expect us to fight, not run away.

"[Even if there would be] few tears shed if and when the Second Amendment is held to guarantee nothing more than the state National Guard, this would simply show that the Founders were right when they feared that some future generation might wish to abandon liberties that they considered essential, and so sought to protect those liberties in a Bill of Rights. We may tolerate the abridgement of property rights and the elimination of a right to bear arms; but we should not pretend that these are not reductions of rights." -- Justice Scalia 1998

George Bush Sr. lived in Maine, but retained his Texas citizenship by having a mailing address at a Houston hotel. Don't see why you can't do the same.

Guys, guys, guys....don't run off so soon.

Let's get real. We all knew Gore could win. But say he does--so what? It's a setback for us, sure, but it's not like "they" will have won--they've got the President. The President, no matter what people say, is not the real issue. Congress is the real issue, and the Republicans own that with tiny inroads being made by Libertarians and independents. We're still in trouble, nothing in this election was going to fix that, but Gore is not the end of the world. He has decided what to do about guns and us--now let him enforce his decision. Will the Congress let him do it? We have to stay in the game, fight hard in the Congress, and most of all, keep Gore constantly defensive and mindful of his razor-thin "mandate," especially when it's time to have his Supreme Court nominees confirmed.

Gore or no Gore, the U.S. remains the greatest country on Earth, IMHO. Even if you guys would suffer a setback, you still have a fighting chance, which is a lot more than freedom-loving citizens of most other countries (the very few of us, there is) will ever have.
I talk from personal experience here, folks. It feels really lonely in a place where no one cares.

The US the greatest nation on the planet?
I'ld like to second that... But I can't
US politics are not a laughing stock.
We've sunk to a new low.
As a nation its going to continue to sink because everything is backwards.
What used to be wrong is now right.
What used to be right is now wrong.
This isn't 50'sish white male pride... this is basic core values.
If you want to know what they are going to do next - Just ask yourself "What would a totally degenerate slimball do?" And thats a pretty good model for the next 6 months.

I admire the Palasinians, Shiites and other groups... Things have been, for them, the same for HUNDREDS of years. We cant even say that for 5 years.

You know, George, if you'd like to trade your citizenship for mine, I'd be glad to oblige... ;)
Seriously, though: I believe I can understand your frustation, but I have a feeling you have no idea how it is anywhere else. I mean, a forum like this wouldn't even be possible where I am - not because it would be outlawed, but because there's not enough like-minded people to take part in it. So you just watch the Socialists and Communists do whatever they damn please, with virtually no opposition, because PEOPLE JUST DON'T CARE!
Before that, we had the generals, the emperors (believe it or not, we had two of them), the Portuguese... 500 years of that crap.
I still believe there's enough Americans willing to fight for what's right. You have a tradition of respect for the individual freedoms that can't just be erased overnight. No matter what hardships you face right now, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. America is still worth fighting for!
That's my opinion (as a foreigner who was fortunate enough to live in your great country for five years, and who longs to go back), FWIW.

Best regards,

You're right about that one, George - but my wife is Argentinian! Go figure! :)

G-Freeman, I mean every word I said, from the bottom of my heart. While living in the U.S., I was a member of the NRA and regularly contributed to the ILA. If I could only have had the chance to choose where I was born...

Good Luck, guys! Whatever happens, the fight goes on!

While we're all patting ourselves on the back about being greatest...... the reality is that Al has learned the art of the Executive order from Bill. He doesn't need congress and it takes 2/3 to overturn his fun. You can't do that unless the democraps make up less than 1/3 of the Congress. If we allow them to steal this election without trying to stop them we get what we deserve. I say, if they can't manipulate the numbers to win and then sue, we have a suit ready to file over the vets not having easy access to absentee ballots and tie this up in the courts for years. Clinton's term ends in January and we function without a pres. for a while. After all we've already been doing it for at least 8 years! We need to start battling the same way they do and stop being so nice. Playing fair has gotten us where we are right now. They're going to do what ever it takes to win and we should too. Or we're screwed!
