Removing plug from Charles Daly HD Shotgun

Hi, I'm new here and I thought you guys could answer a question for me before I move on over to the pistol forums....

A buddy of mine has a short home defense shotgun made by Charles Daly. I dont know the model name or anything, so I apologize in advance if this is too vague. Anyway, his gun has a fowl hunting plug that limits capacity to 3 rounds. My Mossberg 500 had a plug but is was an easily removeable dowel rod sort of setup. His seems to be a more diificult to remove plastic plug. Maybe this is something simple that we overlooked. Again, its not my firearm so I havent been able to play around with it and try to remove the plug. Any advice? I'd like to be able to help him remove it next time I'm at his place. Thanks!

I have the same gun. Basically the plug is the plastic style just like the Remington 870.

Here's the link to the CD website where you can request a manual. It will show him how to remove the plug. I can't find mine.

Remove the screw cap from the magazine. Push down on the plastic spring cap with a screwdriver or your finger and turn it 90 degrees then let it come back up and it will come out. Remove the plug and reverse the process to reinstall the spring and spring cap.

exactly.... I knew it was easy, but I have never personally had to remove, A. it's illegal in Virginia to hunt with a shotgun that holds more than 3 rounds.... and B. If I can't hit it by the 3rd shot, I should be running.....

Unless its for homedefense, (which in your buddies case it is) I dont see the need...
