I shot it, I cleaned it, I found out that it only holds three rounds instead of the advertised 6. I'm guessing there's a plug. I removed the barrel and looked down the tube feed. All I saw was a nice big spring. I was unable to remove the tube to investigate further. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to remove the plug, if there is one.

It's been a while since I bought mine

but as I recall, you have to pull it out the hole in the front of the magazine. Don't recall it took more than a minute, and there were directions (long since consigned to the place of "things to put in a place where i won't lose them, and then forgotten!").

I remember removing the plugs from my 500's by taking the barrel off, then hold the butt up, and shaking the shotgun. At that point a small wooden dowel stuck out of the mag tube, which I then pulled out...

on the 590 (should be identical) you have to undue the screw that holds the barrel to the magazine (sorry i use incorrect terms) take the barrel off, so that it doesn't hit the ground when you turn it upside down, turn it upside down and shake it a little (maybe alot depending on how new it is) and the wooden thingy should fall out. It might start a little and you might have to get a pair of pliars to finish pulling it out.
