Removing light rust in rifling.

hey guys.

I just got a NOS barrel with a few spots of light bright orange surface rust in the bore similar stuff on the outside wasn't even through the bluing. its a 6" and I was wondering what you'd recommend for removing it? thinking a very low abrasive maybe even a rotating brass brush would do it.

Wanted to get some second opinions before I start.

Stick a small wad of 0000 steel wool in the bore, give it a squirt of WD 40, and push it back and forth with a cleaning rod. Then dry patches.
No-it won't hurt the rifling at all.
A rotating brush will not get into the sharp corners of the rifling grooves.

If all else fails . . tooth paste on a patch. Tooth paste is a mild abrasive and readily available . . . work some into a patch . . . work the patch back and forth through the barrel and follow up with some soapy hot water on a patch to clean any residue off. Follow that with some dry patches and then oil lightly.
