Removing lead from aluminum?

Does anyone know a good way to remove lead from the aluminum baffles in a suppressor (silencer)?

So far I haven't found anything that will help remove lead but won't harm aluminum too.

I've always read that a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide makes a great lead remover.

Personally I've never tried it, so attempt at your own risk
 
Melting points

Lead melts at around 600 deg. F where Aluminum melts around 1200 F. The alloy will change these numbers a bit but there is enough difference to allow the lead to melt off of the baffles. Never tried it though.
 
Probably the safest method would be to soak the parts overnight in Kroil.
Kroil is a super-penetrating fluid that will actually infiltrate under the leading and help lift it off.


There is NO chemical that will "remove" leading that is safe to use on aluminum OR safe to use around humans.

You could use a "Lead-Away" cloth.
This is a heavy, yellow, waxy-feeling cloth that literally wipes leading and carbon off metal by just rubbing.
How the aluminum will stand up to it is a question, but you can experiment with it to see if it damages the aluminum, and how fast.
Buy them at most gun shops.
