I've read numerous strings about the PSS with a detachable magazine (DM) having feeding problems. I've had one for a few years and have never had a misfeed. Please share what problems you've had with yours and how you fixed it, or better yet, tell me how great your out-of-the-box PSS DM is!!!

I've also had a PSS DM for a couple of years. The only problem I've ever had with the detachable mag is that it's easy to accidentally seat the mag only on one side if you don't visually verify it while doing it. Since a single side clicks loudly, it can fool you into thinking that both sides clicked and will disengage completely when you try to chamber a round.

Visually verifying that the mag is seated properly and/or never removing the mag in the first place eliminates this problem. With the mag seated properly, I've never had a misfeed or a problem of any kind.

Guess I'm just lucky, too.

I have also had a Remington with a detachable magazine and never had a problem. To reiterate what Storm Shadow mentioned, if the magazine is seated properly, as it should be on any firearm whether it be a pistol, rifle etc and the magazine is not damaged, it should work fine.

Okay let me turn the question around. What advantages does the Remington action have over the Mauser action and it's descendents? The Reminton action came later, so I imagine they wanted a change for a reason right?

Remington is push feed. Mauser is controled roll feed. Push feed is easier and cheaper to make. CRF is supposedly more reliable.
