Remlin Safety Question

I recently picked up a Remlin (I know but this one seems to be pretty good quality all things considered) 1895 GBL in 45-70...sadly it has the dreaded cross bolt safety and looks terrible...is there anyway to take this out and replace it with a plug or something? I've seen in the past some guys had this problem with Rossi putting a safety on top on the receiver of their R92 and some guys took it out and replaced it with a 25 ACP casing they had cut very short and scraped all the primer compound out of the primer. Could something similar be done with the Marlin and the cross bolt safety with say two cases?

I've seen a lot of them replaced with a pin that looks like a screw.

I saw one that was replaced with a pin & saddle ring. Sorry, I don't remember where.

Is there another safety on the Marlin levers with the crossbolt once that safety is removed/replaced?
