Reminton 870 question

I have a new Remington 870HD w/ 18" barrel and factory 2 round extension. I just purchased a beautiful new and unused aluminum trigger group that I will be using to replace the plastic one that came with the gun. The aluminum trigger group has the original type carrier (non-flex).

My questions are:

Is there a real advantage to the new type flex-plate carrier?

If there is an advantage, will the carrier from my plastic trigger group fit and function properly in the aluminum housing?

Would I be better off keeping the aluminum trigger housing and non-flex carrier together as a group, keeping it a matched and fitted unit?

Thanks in advance for the replys!

Change it over

The flex tab solved a jamming problem that Remington had where a round could get caught on top of the carrier and not be able to remove it. Swap it out for the new carrier and I think you will be much happier in the long run. You can always make the new one into a flex tab with the use of a dremel, but I would advise you to just swap them out.
