Reminton 700 muzzle brake

I'm curious if the Remington 700 vtr, with the built in muzzle brake, actually work. I know the .308 is a very good round, with a lot if options. I just wanted to know if the muzzle brake is actually worth it, and if it works.

Most muzzle breaks do reduce recoil, it depends on the style the caliber, weight of the bullet and several other factors. If you are recoil sensitive then you might want to give it a try, they are noisy though. I'm not sure but I don't think you can take that break off, I don't care for that feature.

The VTR techincally doesn't have a Muzzle Brake...It is just a ported barrel which basically only helps with muzzle jump/rise and makes the rifle louder, espeicially when shooting under a covered firing line at the range...It does not help to reduce recoil...
