Remington's Golden Saber AOL...

I've never used any of Remington's Golden Saber ammo and got a box of their .38spl +P 125gr and noticed the AOL is quite a bit longer than the Speer Gold Dots that I've got. I know it shouldn't matter in my LCR (which is all I'll shoot it out of) as it still fits in the cylinder. Just curious if this is normal for the Golden Saber?

I collect ammo and my specialty is .38 and .357 headstamps.

The example of the .38 Golden Saber that I have matches your very closely. It does seem to have a longer than normal bullet and therefore OAL.

I think your Sabers are normal.

They're probably seated long because of the driving band design. The only thing the case can grip is the band around the base of the bullet. If you measure the diameter if the bullet above the case mouth you will probably find it to be less than .357". That's because it's designed to ride on the lands and not be engraved by the rifling.

I'm just making an educated guess here. I've loaded .45acp Golden Sabers and they have the driving band so I assume the .38 is built the same way.
